Tech News: New Lights Out Mode in Twitter and WhatsApp Forwards Counts

So, it’s Saturday, probably the best day of the week. While some of you might soon be out for parties I’m sitting in my room working, covering the daily tech news. So, I have got three important tech news for you all. Let’s start.

1. Twitter introduces ‘Lights Out’ mode for iOS

Night mode in apps is nothing really new and to be clear Twitter was one of the first apps implement night mode back in 2016. However, Twitter’s dark mode is not completely dark. It just adds a darker blue-grey background which helps to minimize eye strain.

However, Twitter is now finally going to implement a true dark mode called ‘Lights Out’. The new option will turn the background of popular social media completely black. This will indeed help newer iPhone models with OLED displays to save a lot of battery life.

If you haven’t already turned on the Lights Out mode then here’s how to do it.

  1. Go to Settings and then tap on ‘Settings and Privacy’.
  2. Under the General section, tap on ‘Display and Sound’.
  3. In case your dark mode is off, tap on it to turn it on.
  4. Finally tap ‘Lights Out’ and it will be completely dark.

This new feature is currently only available in iOS. However, there’s no news on when this feature will be coming to Android.

2. WhatsApp will now notify users how many time their messages have been forwarded

WhatsApp has already introduced ‘Forwarded’ labels and numerous TV ad campaigns in India to fight against fake news. But it looks like the Facebook-owned firm is in no mood stop. WhatsApp has added an option using which user can know how many times a message has been forwarded. There will be also a frequently option which gets enabled once a message has been forwarded for more than 4 times.

The update is now available for WhatsApp beta users on Android and iOS. However, there are no words on when the feature will be coming to the public version. Although it shouldn’t take more than 2 weeks.
