Just a few minutes ago at a press event in New Delhi, Asus launched the Asus Zenfone AR in India. The device is quite exceptional from other devices. it is the second tango phone after the Lenovo Phab P2 Pro and the first device which supports Tango and Daydream VR.
The Asus Zenfone AR has support for Google Daydream VR. Daydream is a virtual reality platform developed by Google specifically for mobile devices. The device supports Daydream view and other Daydream headsets. Other than Daydream the Zenfone AR also has support for Tango.
For those who don’t know, Tango is an AR or augmented reality platform by Google. Phones which support Tango can understand the physical distance between objects and the device itself. It is widely used for gaming and also for indoor navigation.
Not only Daydream and Tango, the Asus Zenfone AR also has a unique tricam system which has three rear cameras. This system includes a depth tracking, motion tracking, and a whopping 23-megapixel high-resolution camera. Asus says, with the tricam system the Zenfone AR can track its motion and can create a three-dimensional or 3D model of its surroundings.
The device is a Flipkart exclusive and it will start selling later today for ₹49,999 ($750). Also, there will be a ₹2,500 discount on Google Daydream if you buy it from Flipkart along with the Asus Zenfone AR. Below are the specifications of the Zenfone AR.
