After dominating the Smartphone and TV market, Xiaomi is now all set to make its mark in the laptop market as well. Yesterday, in China, RedmiBook 14 launched alongside with the K20 and K20 Pro. Notably, it is the first laptop under the brand of Redmi. It aims to offer a balanced performance with a sleek metal design at an affordable price tag. Display and Design

It features a 14-inch Full HD display with 5.75 mm ultra narrow bezels and 81.2% screen-to-body ratio. In addition, the display also comes with a 178° wide viewing angle, 250nits brightness, and high-definition anti-glare. It has a classy looking metal body as well. The next model features i5-8265U along with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card (2GB GDDR5), 8GB DDR4 2400MHz memory, and 512GB SATA SSD storage. Lastly, there is another version of this with 256GB SATA SSD storage.

On the software part, it has Pre-installed Windows 10 Home Edition along with Genuine Office Home and Student Edition.  In addition, there is a Xiaomi smart unlock feature that is touted to take 1.2 seconds to unlock the machine from the standby mode.

Battery and Connectivity

Connectivity options include- WiFi 802.11ac 2×2 (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x USB 3.0 port, 1 x USB 2.0, and HDMI. Furthermore, there is 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack, Realtek ALC256M, 2x 1.5W speakers, and DTS audio support as well.

RedmiBook 14 Price and Availability

The RedmiBook 14 will be available in only silver color. The base variant with Intel Core i5 processor and 256GB SSD storage will be available at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 40,300). While it’s 512GB version will be sold for CNY 4,299 (roughly Rs. 43,300). Finally, the top end model with i7 and 512GB SSD will be available at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 50,400). The company will take pre-orders for the RedmiBook 14 from 12 in China starting from June 1 and the actual sale will start from June 11. However, there is no word from the officials about its global availability but if Xiaomi plans to bring these laptops in India, it will be surely a hit.
