Atal Innovation Mission: PM Modi Launches App Innovation Challenge

Aatmanirbhar Innovation challenge, an initiative taken by Government of India under the surveillance of PM Narendra Modi, to promote the growth of homegrown apps. This launch under Atal Innovation Mission will serve as boon to the budding techies and various start up communities all around the nation. Which will eventually help in escalating the technological standards of India. And will be a star adder to brand, “Make in India”.

Post ban imposition, on 59 Chinese app that included most popular TikTok and Shareit, a steep growth in usage of Indian based apps similar to these have been observed. To represent it statistically, apps that had a count of less than 1 million downloads, have crossed the mark of 10 million, post ban.

Indian apps such as Chingari, Mitron have crossed the mark of 10 million+ downloads on Google Play Store which was just 1 million+ , the day ban was imposed. Data in itself is a reflection of people’s inclination towards homegrown apps.

In order to turn this situation based inclination towards homegrown apps into a choice with no barriers. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Atal Innovation Mission endeavours to make this challenge a successful one.

“Today there is immense enthusiasm among tech and start-up community to create world class Made in India apps. To facilitate their ideas and products @GoI_MeitY and @AIMtoInnovate are launching Aatmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge,” tweets PM Narendra Modi.

Along with reflecting his residing enthusiasm he urges the young talents and aspirational group of society to be an active participant.

He says “This challenge is for you if you have such a working product or if you feel you have the vision and expertise to create such products. I urge all my friends in the tech community to participate. Sharing your thoughts in my @LinkedIn post.”

Describing about the challenge under Atal Innovation Mission, PM Modi shares the crude details of it. He says that challenge will involve two sections which will include promotion of existing app and development of new apps.

He writes “Track-01 will work in mission mode for identifying good quality Apps for the leader board and shall be completed in around a month. Track-02 initiative will work to help create new champions in India by providing support in ideation, incubation, prototyping and roll out along with market access.”
