World Emoji Day: New Emojis To Hit Your Android And iOS Devices This Year

Google, Apple bring fresh emojis to enhance your chat experience.

Every year on World Emoji Day, Apple announces the release of new emoji sets, which eventually get updated to all the iOS devices by the year end. Without any delay, the tradition continues, Apple celebrates World Emoji Day 2020 by announcing the release of 13 new emojis which have been opted from Emoji 13.0 and approved by Unicode Consortium. On the other hand Google adds a charm to this day by announcing the release of 117 new emojis (opted from Emoji 13.0) to its G-Board, along with Android 11 update.

Before getting into the detail of emoji release, let us brief ourselves with World Emoji Day, to trace back and see, how did it start.

World Emoji Day: A description of past

According to CNBC World Emoji Day is “brainchild of Jeremy Burge” who is the founder of Emojipedia and establisher of this day. Every year, 17th July is celebrated as World Emoji Day, since 2014 and various tech giants use this day to launch a new emoji or emoticons to enhance users chat experience.

Apple began this tradition in 2017 and no break in following the ritual has been observed since then.

Description of the recent Launch

A press release made by the company, reveals the introduction of new set of 13 emojis to all the iOS devices i.e iPhone, iPad, Macbook and Apple gear by the end of this year. The list of emojis that will be updated this year include bubble tea, pinched fingers, boomerang, transgender symbol, dodo, beaver, pinata, nesting dolls, coin, anatomical heart, lungs, ninja and tamale.

Speculations reveal that emoji introduction to iPhones will be accompanied by an iOS 14 update. Adding more to this, Apple indicates of introducing extra features that will help users in customizing their looks and creating Memojis with the support of iOS 14.

Announcement by Google

With an introduction of Android 11 update by September. Google is all set to introduce 117 new emojis to its G-Board, approved by Unicode Consortium. These 117 emojis will comprise of 62 new emojis and rest 55 will be gender and skin tone alternatives. So all the Android users will enhance their chat experience with the usage of these new introductions.

Along with the fresh introduction, some previous emojis such as Turtle, Frog and Hatching Chick will get modified and soon this modification will be witnessed by you.
