Google Meet To Take On Zoom With Features Like Polling, Q&A, and More

Google Meet Will Also Allow You To Try Different Background Effects

One of the most used video conferencing platforms, Google Meet, is said to be working on new features to outclass its competitors. The platform will soon roll-out features like blur effect for background, polling, Q&A, real-time captioning, hand-raising, low light mode, and more.

The tile view will also be available for around 49 participants in the new update. Previously, it was available for only 16 participants. No specific launch date for the features has been announced as of now. However, 9to5 Google has reported that meet has already started testing the features with its customers from domains like education.

Google Meet New Features

Polling: Real-time polling is going to be one of the most interactive features as employees will be free to generate a poll on a query that is to be solved with teamwork.

Meeting attendance: This feature will allow the host to get complete details about participants who attended a particular meeting and those who were absent in it.

Additional moderators control: The meeting hosts will have more control over actions related to joining, muting, or presenting in a meeting.

Q&A: This feature will allow the participants to raise questions in a meeting without compromising its flow.

Hand Raising: This feature will help in managing meetings with a lot of participants. To ask a question or say something, participants just need to use the raise hands feature.

Breakout Rooms: This feature will also be of great help in meetings consisting of a large number of participants. Participants can divide into smaller groups, have sub-discussions, and then again re-join the full-fledged conference.

Google Meet To Take On Zoom, Microsoft Teams

Google Meet’s prime focus behind rolling out new features is to compete with platforms like Zoom meetings and Microsoft Teams.

In a short time, Zoom Meetings already gained a lot of users worldwide. However, due to security reasons, a lot of people discarded the platform.

Launching a set of new features at this time will help Google Meet in gaining a large number of users. Google Meet is also expecting to retain its lost user base with the debut of amazing and interactive features.

It was mentioned previously that new Google Meet features are being tested already with people from different domains. Speculations are that Google will soon roll-out all the features globally.
