Facebook Starts Testing Dark Mode For iOS; Available For Few Users

Android 9 users have to wait more for the Facebook dark mode

Social media giant Facebook has started testing dark mode for the iOS version. As of now, dark mode is available for a few users around the globe. Previously, Facebook rolled out the dark mode for the web version in May 2020.

Other Facebook-owned apps like Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp already had dark mode. Facebook was slow in introducing dark mode for its iPhone app. However, it is a piece of good news for all the users who used the desktop version of Facebook just to enjoy the dark mode.

Facebook Dark Mode for iOS

A lot of users tweeted and shared the photos of Facebook’s dark mode. The user interface will not be completely black. Instead, it will have a slightly lighter tone with a white color scheme for icons and logos.

The news was enthralling for the users as they were waiting for the dark mode since a long time. Still, there is no confirmation regarding the global roll-out of the feature. If we consider the stats, Facebook has almost 3-billion active mobile apps users.

It is obvious that the platform will first focus on making dark mode free from bugs. Moreover, design issues related to Dark Mode can also leave a negative impact on the users. So, Facebook is not going to take the risk of rolling out dark mode globally before sorting all the issues. This could be one of the reasons behind the delay in testing and roll-out of dark mode for iOS.

As of now, a lot of apps already have dark mode feature, including Twitter, Opera, Google Chrome, YouTube, and even Gmail. A large number of users prefer using most of the apps in the dark mode as compared to the regular mode.

However, Android 9.0 users have to wait a little longer to use the dark mode for Facebook as there is no word about that. As per the expectations, the company will soon start testing dark mode fro Android 9.0 too.
