CES 2018: SanDisk Unveiled World’s Smallest 1TB USB Type-C Flash Drive

At CES 2018, Western Digital-owned Sandisk unveiled the world’s smallest 1TB USB Type-C flash drive. The company has exhibited two new flash drives at CES 2018 including a 256GB SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive. Sandisk claimed that it is the smallest 256GB USB flash drive. The company demonstrated the 1TB USB device which is a future preview of portability. Such big amount of storage in that tiny form factor is truly amazing.

At CES 2018, Sandisk Said:

“Continuing its legacy of technology milestones, Western Digital offers a preview of the future of flash storage, demonstrating the world’s smallest 1TB USB device, a powerful USB Type-C flash solution capable of preserving an enormous amount of content in one tiny form factor; and the world’s smallest 256GB USB flash drive.”

Smallest 1TB USB Type-C Flash Drive:

Sandisk’s smallest 1TB flash drive is now in the prototype stage. As of now, Sandisk didn’t reveal much about this new 1TB flash drive but since it is a USB Type-C flash drive, it will be a very productive device. The pricing and availability of this ultra-portable 1TB flash drive are still unknown. In addition, It may take a while to hit the mass market. Users can use this device with PCs, laptops, and Mac OS. Also, it will be able to transfer data to smartphones. In addition, SanDisk says that the file transfer will be much faster than before.

SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1:

Now coming to the 256GB flash drive, It is the world’s smallest 256GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive. It’s measuring is 19.1 x 15.9 x 8.8mm. It offers 130MB/s read speed and write speed of up to 15x faster than standard USB 2.0 drives. Ultra Fit USB also comes with Sandisk SecureAccess software. It basically helps to keep the contents secure and is compatible with any USB 3.0 or 2.0 port. In this 256GB, users can store up to 14,000 photos, 10 hours of full HD video and 16,000 songs, and more.

The SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drives are available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options. It will be available at $21.99 (approx Rs. 1,400), $34.99 (approx Rs. 2,200), $59.99 (approx Rs. 3,800), $119.99 (approx Rs. 7600), and $149.99 (approx Rs. 9550) respectively.

In addition, The company launched two new portable SSD. The first one comes from Western Digital, the second one comes from SanDisk- My Passport Wireless SS and SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD. Both are aimed at for photographers and drone enthusiasts.

The Passport Wireless SSD features one-touch card copy to enable editing and sharing of content out in the field. It can directly access the device within third-party mobile creative apps, like FiLMiC Pro and LumaFusion. In addition, the Extreme Portable SSD is for saving and editing hi-res photos and videos.
