CES 2018: Lenovo Launched Mirage Solo Daydream VR, Mirage VR180 Camera, Smart Display

At CES 2018, Lenovo exhibited its latest portfolio of VR-oriented devices. Lenovo unveiled the much-anticipated world’s first standalone Daydream VR headset – Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream. It combines the simplicity of an all-in-one headset so no more being tethered to wires, PCs or phones. The Mirage Solo is an entirely standalone virtual reality headset that runs Google’s Daydream platform.

Alongside this, Lenovo also showcased Mirage VR180 Camera and Smart Display. The VR180 camera captures high-resolution 3D photos and videos that are immersive and enable users to re-experience memories. In addition, The new Lenovo Smart Display with the Google Assistant built-in is aimed to busy families for the ideal home companion.

Lenovo Mirage Solo:

Lenovo said: “Mirage Solo users will be the first to experience the full potential of motion-tracking technology, called WorldSense, on Google’s Daydream virtual reality platform. WorldSense lets you move around and explore your virtual environments as if you’re truly there – leaning, dodging or ducking through space.”

Until now, portable headsets have been limited to tracking head movement using cords and external sensors. But now with WorldSense’s inside-out positional tracking technology, the headset can mirror real life by tracking its position in space through built-in tracking cameras and sensors.

The headset’s display is for immersive VR engagement with an incredible 110-degree field of view. It has a 5.5-inch QHD LCD screen and is powered by a 4000mAh battery. 

The Mirage Solo also features Snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM. In addition, a 64GB of storage with a microSD expansion option as well. Lenovo says it can run seamlessly up to 7 hours. Mirage Solo also comes with a controller similar to the wireless controller present in Google’s Daydream headset. The Lenovo Mirage Solo will be available starting in the second quarter of this year.

Lenovo Mirage VR 180 Camera:

At CES 2018, Lenovo also announced the Lenovo Mirage Camera with Daydream in partnership with Google. It is a powerful new tool that lets you capture and relive memories like you’re really in the moment. The Lenovo Mirage Camera is a VR camera that simplifies creating virtual reality content with easy video or image capture. It also allows users to share contents instantly with Google Photos and YouTube. This camera simply allows just point, shoot, relive and share.

The Lenovo Mirage Camera is very easy to use. As, it sports just three buttons: power, shutter, and function. Users can toggle between three modes: photo, video and live broadcasting. In addition, It can slip right into your pocket and supports YouTube’s new VR180 video format.

It features dual 13MP fish-eye cameras to achieve depth in image and video. The two lenses also offer a 180 x 180-degree field of view to let you see more. Basically, It captures the same images at slightly different angles to form a 3D effect. In which near objects look near, while far objects appear far.

Lenovo’s VR180 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and it is expandable via microSD. The camera comes with Wi-Fi and LTE support. It sports a 2200mAh battery which gives up to 2 hours of usage. The Mirage Camera is expected to be available beginning in the second quarter this year.

Lenovo Smart Display:

At CES 2018, Lenovo also showcased a Smart display with the Google Assistant built-in. It features a vibrant full HD touchscreen display and wrapped in a minimalist and modern design. It’s the ideal home companion for busy families who need easy-to-use, time-saving technology.

With the Lenovo Smart Display, the Google Assistant can help you kickstart your morning and get the latest weather, traffic, and meeting schedules. Else, you can relax in the evening by video calling friends with Google Duo, watching YouTube videos. In addition, you can enjoy your favorite tunes or manage your connected devices – all with just your voice and a quick glance at the display.

Powered by the new Qualcomm Home Hub Platform based on the Qualcomm SDA 624 SoC which features integrated CPU, GPU and DSP as well as robust Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. With the Google Assistant, the Lenovo Smart Display is a singular command hub for your connected smart home devices. It will Available in both 8-inch and 10-inch models. The Lenovo Smart Display rotates from portrait to landscape mode so the whole family can fit into the frame to talk.

In addition, It’s flexible too as the display can be positioned horizontally or vertically to fit nearly any space. When not in use, the display doubles as a digital picture frame – showcasing an ambient screen. It will display beautiful pictures from a personally selected album in Google Photos or another background image of your choice.

The Lenovo Smart Display’s clean, minimalist design not only blends into your home but also adds a modern touch to it. It is available in a soft Grey or natural Bamboo color and it also matches most wooden, glass or granite tabletops. The 10-inch Lenovo Smart Display starts at $249.99 and the 8-inch model starts at $199.99, both expected to be available early this summer.
