In addition, Helio A22 is the first SoC Of Helio A series chip. Last month, Xiaomi announced Redmi 6A with this new SoC. MediaTek’s biggest rival is Qualcomm when its come to mobile SoC. However, Qualcomm has been dominating the market for quite a long time now but recently with Helio P60 MediaTek surprised everyone. It seems like MediaTek is gearing up to take the charge against Qualcomm by offering premium features at the much lower price. Helio P60 was the first step towards this policy and now with A22, it is more evident.

The new MediaTek Helio A22 SoC comes with 12nm TSMC FinFET technology. It aims to deliver high performance with greater power efficiency. In addition, it has Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs, each clocked at 2.0 GHz with MediaTek CorePilot technology. Therefore, it optimizes power for each task to extend device battery life. Helio A22 also got AI features thanks to the MediaTek NeuroPilot SDK and It also supports Google Android Neural Networks API is also. Thus it will offer AI Face ID (Face Unlock), AI Smart Photo Album and more. MediaTek says that CPU performance will be up to 30% faster and GPU up to 72% faster than the Snapdragon 425. However, the company didn’t reveal the exact version of the PowerVR GPU.
The A22 supports 20:9 HD+ screen, 13+8MP dual or 21MP single camera setup at 30 frames per second (FPS). It also supports both LPDDR3, LPDDR4x to offer better flexibility. On the connectivity side, it becomes more interesting as it supports dual 4G SIM with VoLTE/ViLTE. Its WorldMode modem integrates MediaTek TAS 2.0 smart antenna technology. This technology offers essential new standards such as eMBMS, HUPE, Band 71 and advanced IMS. It also got a dedicated sub-processor for
4-Satellite multi-GNSS (GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo), Bluetooth 5 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.
