Main Article: Today, Huawei finally announced its new in-house midrange SoC, the Huawei Kirin 710. The new Kirin 710 is a much-required upgrade from last year’s Kirin 659. Therefore, it is a major upgrade when compared to its predecessor. Kirin 659 was based on 16nm process and it was rapidly losing its competitive edge while compared to the competition. Therefore, Huawei first featured Kirin 710 SoC through the launch of Huawei Nova 3i. Now, let’s have a quick look what’s inside in Huawei Kirin 710.

The new Kirin 710 is built over the 12nm process while compared to the 16nm process of Kirin 659. Therefore, it will be will be more powerful and power efficient at the same time. In addition, it got big-little architecture which means the Soc got four high-performance cores and four power-efficient cores. It has four ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and the other four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. Huawei says that Kirin 710 offers 75% better single-core scores and 68% better multi-core scores while compared to the older kirin 659.
Huawei has also upgraded the GPU so the Kirin 710 will be accompanied by ARM Mali-G51 MP4. The company says it will be also 1.3 times faster than its predecessor ARM-Mali T830 MP2 GPU. In addition, it will also offer AI photo features and immersive gaming experience with independent ISP and DSP. The DSP and ISP will have significant improvement in the camera department, especially in low-light conditions. Huawei also said with the new GPU Turbo technology, the GPU performance will be improved further.
The Huawei Kirin 710 SoC now comes with Cat 12/Cat 13 LTE speeds of 300 Mbps downlink and 150 Mbps uplink. Furthermore, it will now offer Dual 4G and Dual VoLTE allowing users to use 4G and VoLTE on both the SIMs which is now becoming standard of 2018. In addition, it will also support Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.0
