Summary: Xiaomi has unveiled its latest Android One Smartphone in India as the Mi A2. The new A2 is the much-anticipated smartphone after the Mi A1. A2 sports an 18:9 5.99-inch FHD+ 2.5D curved display which comes with Corning Glass 5 protection. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC and backed by a 3000mah battery which will support Quick Charge 4.0. The Mi A2 sports a dual 12MP+20MP camera with f/1.75 aperture and a 20MP front camera.
Main Article: Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi A2, it’s latest Android One smartphone in India. Earlier it debuted in China as Mi 6X and later it launched in Spain as the Mi A2. It is the much-awaited successor of the Mi A1. If you recall, the Mi A1 was the best-selling Android One device. However, the new Mi A2 is a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Mi A1. Notably, Mi A1 was a Flipkart exclusive device but this time A2 will be available exclusively on Amazon India.

The new A2 is a significant upgrade over the A1 as it comes with the new tall 18:9 aspect ratio. It sports a 5.99-inch FHD+ 2.5D curved display with Corning Glass 5 protection. A2 has a metal unibody design, fingerprint sensor on the back and comes with a USB Type-C port. Under the hood, there is Snapdragon 660 SoC (Quad 2.2GHz Kryo 260 + Quad 1.8GHz Kryo 260 CPUs) with Adreno 512 GPU. In addition, there are two RAM and storage options – 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB.
However, you can’t expand the storage via MicroSD card. Another major disappointment is that there is no 3.5mm headphone jack but you will get a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack converter inside the box. The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a small 3000mAh battery but thankfully it supports Quick Charge 4.0. However, it will ship with a regular 10W charger in the box so you have to purchase the fast charger separately. 
Mi A2 also comes with the Android One programme so basically, there is no bloatware preinstalled only Clean Stock Android. Notably, Android One programme from Google is certified to offer an optimized Android experience and timely updates. Mi A2 runs Stock Android Oreo 8.1 and will get Android P 9.0 by the end of 2018.
Apart from the software, there is one more biggest highlight which is the camera. So the Mi A2 sports a 12MP primary camera with Sony IMX486 sensor, a f/1.75 aperture with the 1.25um pixel size. There is also a 20MP secondary camera with Sony IMX376 sensor, f/1.75 aperture, and comes with 2um Super Pixel technology. The secondary sensor helps to capture depth information for portrait shots.
It also sports the same 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor on the front with soft LED flash and AI beautification. Interestingly, both 20MP sensor uses pixel binning technology that combines four pixels to create one large 2.0µm pixel. The cameras on the device also got AI features and EIS for video recording. There is also a Smart Lens Selection feature, that uses the appropriate rear sensor based on the lighting conditions.

The new Mi A2 will be available in four different colors- Gold, Lake Blue, Rose Gold and Black. The 4GB+64GB variant is priced at Rs. 16,999 but. It will go on sale via Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Home, and Mi Preferred Partner Stores at 12 PM on August 16. Mi A2 will be up for pre-orders from tomorrow on Amazon India, Mi.com. However, Xiaomi says the 6GB+128GB version will be available soon so the pricing is still unknown. In addition, Mi A2 launch offers also include up to 4.5TB additional data and up to Rs. 2,200 instant cashback from Reliance Jio.
