NVIDIA has unveiled the new GeForce RTX line up and they are claiming huge performance boost than the previous generation. Today at Gamescom 2018, NVIDIA has officially announced the new generation of their consumer graphics cards. The new Turing architecture based GPUs include the GeForce RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and the RTX 2080 Ti.

The all-new GeForce RTX 2000 Series

Although the graphics cards are not cheap at all but NVIDIA is promising up to 6 times the performance than the previous generation Pascal GPUs. With the new graphics cards, NVIDIA is focusing heavily on ray tracing. As per them, the new gen graphics cards are as much as times better than the Pascal-based GPUs.

Furthermore, the Turning architecture offers new Tensor cores that are capable of deep learning applications. At the stage, NVIDIA discussed the DLSS algorithm, which can boost a game running at 1080p to get near 4K quality without any performance drops.

The Ray Tracing technology is also one of the biggest highlights of these cards. Ray Tracing is nothing other than a rendering technology that allows the games to look a lot more like movies. With Ray Tracing enabled, one can expect real-time light reflections and cinematic effects which results in an amazing gameplay experience.

GeForce RTX 2000 Series Specifications

At the Gamescom event in Germany, NVIDIA has claimed a pretty hefty performance boost for the new gen GPUs. Below are the specifications of the all-new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2000 series graphics cards.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2000 Series Announced

To start with, the RTX 2070 GPU comes with 8 GB DDR6 memory, 448 GB/Sec memory bandwidth and 6 Gigarays per second ray tracing. it also comes with a clock speed of 1410 MHz and 2304 CUDA cores. The Founders edition, however, has a base clock speed of 1710 Mhz and can be further overclocked.

The GeForce RTX 2080 on the other hand, comes with 11 GB DDR6 memory. 616 GB/sec memory bandwidth and 8 Gigarays per second ray tracing. The card has a clock speed of 1545 MHz and 2944 CUDA cores.

Finally, the RTX 2080 Ti also comes with 11 GB DDR6 memory, 616 GB/sec memory bandwidth and 8 Gigarays per second ray tracing. it also has a clock speed of 1350 MHz and 4352 CUDA cores. The Founders edition, however, has a base clock speed of 1635 Mhz and can be further overclocked.

The RTX Support in Upcoming Games

On the stage, NVIDIA CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang also showed the Battlefield V trailer as the game will support ray tracing technology. He announced that the open beta of the game will start on September 6th.

Along with the Battlefield V, a few others games will also get support for real-time Ray Tracing. Some of the notable games in this are Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, Hitman 2, We Happy Few, PUBG, and Final Fantasy XV. A total of 21 games will have the RTX support at the start including these which is not bad at all.
