Summary: Poco launched the new Poco F1 smartphone in India at an event in New Delhi. Poco is the Sub brand of Xiaomi and it is willing to offer speed at an affordable price tag. Therefore, it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 4000mah battery that also supports Quick Charge 3.0. The RAM and storage option goes upto 8GB and 256GB. It comes with the same Sony IMX 363 camera sensor which used on smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi Mix 2S.
Main Article: Poco is the new sub-brand of Xiaomi and today the company launched the Poco F1 in India. It is the first smartphone from Poco which is being teased for a while. The new brand is led by former Google executive and Xiaomi’s Lead Product Manager Jai Mani. At a global event held in New Delhi, Poco says the new Poco F1 is all about the speed. Hence the design of the smartphone is very basic. That also allowed the device to be the cheapest to feature the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.
The Poco F1 features a 6.18-inch Full-HD+ 2.5D curved display with 18:7:9 aspect ratio and a notch design. The display also comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. However, it features a hard-coated polycarbonate unibody design with a 7-layer colour process and reinforced internal frame structure. If you are looking for a great design, you may be disappointed. Notably, there is also a Kevlar back option called Armored Edition that uses Kevlar aramid fibre.
The main highlight of this device is that it runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with Adreno 630 GPU. In addition, it also features a liquid cooling technology that allows to maintain the peak performance every time. Notably, it achieved the highest ever AnTuTu score of 291,302. The device also comes with a respectable 4000mah battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Thankfully, the company bundled the fast charger inside the box unlike Xiaomi.
Poco F1 runs MIUI 9.6 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. However, It is customized and optimized for speed, called MIUI for Poco. The changes contains interface changes, including notifications, and the Poco launcher which offers more stock Android feel. There are also support for third-party icon packs. Poco will also provide support for custom ROM and release the kernel in the next few weeks. The company also promises faster updates that include Android security patch, MIUI updates and OS updates. Notably, Poco will provide MIUI 10 and Android P update really soon for this device.
It is a very important aspect of any smartphone. Poco F1 features a dual camera setup on the back. It sports a primary 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4-micron pixel, dual-pixel auto focus with f/1.9 aperture paired with secondary 5MP depth sensor from Samsung. The camera features include portrait mode, real-time AI, intelligent scene recognition that can detect 206 scenes across 25 categories. It got 20MP front camera with AI features and pixel binning technology. In addition, there is also an IR lens and infrared lighting to help in Face Unlock even in extreme low light conditions.
Furthermore, there are two RAM variants of the smartphone – 6GB and 8GB. The storage options include 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB of Internal storage. There is also hybrid SIM slot configuration that will allow storage expansion upto 256GB. Connectivity options include 4G+, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack. Other features include Dirac HD Sound and dual smart PA for loud and clear audio.

The POCO F1 will be available in Graphite Black, Steel Blue and Rosso Red color. Also, there will be a special Armored Edition with Kevlar back. Company will also include a soft case in the box. In terms of pricing Poco priced this device very aggressively.
It will go on sale exclusively via Flipkart and Mi.com starting from 12pm on August 29. The launch offers include Rs. 1000 off for HDFC Bank credit/debit card holders during first sale. Rs. 8000 instant benefits, up to 6TB additional data for Jio users.
Furthermore, there will be an ultra-slim hard case priced at Rs. 399 and a Kevlar finished Armoured Case priced at Rs 799. Poco will also launch official skins priced at Rs. 299. Most noteworthy, the servicing of the Poco F1 will be done by existing Xiaomi service centers.
