Recently, a box of the upcoming OnePlus 6T surfaced online revealing an in-display fingerprint sensor and a water drop notch. Now the company also came forward and revealed some of the key features of OnePlus 6T as well. Therefore, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The company will call it “Screen Unlock”.
An e-mail to CNET by OnePlus says: “We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action. By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them.”
In addition, they have also added that they planned to bring this technology to OnePlus 5T. However, it was not possible back then as the technology wasn’t mature enough. According to OnePlus, the “Screen Unlock” will be more convenient than the traditional rear fingerprint sensor.
Furthermore, rumours also suggest that unlike other T versions OnePlus 6T may have significant improvements. It will be thicker by 0.45mm due to internal changes which mean it will be 8.25mm thick. OnePlus 6T is also rumoured to sport a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. It will also feature the Snapdragon 845 SoC with up to 8GB of RAM. The storage options include 128GB and 256GB. It may also feature a triple camera setup on the back and a large 3700mAh battery.
The screenshot reveals the launch date of October 17th. The Oneplus 6T is rumoured to come with a price tag of $550 (roughly Rs. 39,500).
