Just after the iPhone XS, XR and XS Max launch event that took place in September, Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage for the second time. This time the event was scheduled at Brooklyn. And here Apple has finally unveiled the much anticipated new MacBook Air, iPad Pro, and the Mac Mini.
As per Apple, this year the iPad Pro has got the biggest change since the first iPad Pro. The new iPad Pro is now 5.9mm thinner which is about 15% slimmer than the previous generation iPad Pro.
The device now also comes with slimmer bezels and a more edge to edge display than before. However, in order to achieve the slimmer bezels, Apple has removed the home button. Moreover, the 3.5mm headphone jack is removed as well.
The iPad Pro has also ditched the lightning port in favor of USB type-C. Due to that, the device can now connect to monitors with up to 5K resolution. Moreover, it can also charge your iPhone using the type-C connector.
Along with the tablet, Apple has also introduced the new Apple pencil. This pencil attaches to the new iPad Pro magnetically and also wirelessly charges from the iPad. The iPad Pro supports Face ID as well just like the new iPhones.
The pricing of the iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 11-inch version and from $999 for the 12.9-inch version.
The main attraction of the event was the new MacBook Air. The new MacBook Air is 25% lighter than the previous gen and weighs just 2.75 pounds. Just like the iPad Pro, this one has also got slimmer bezels. Apple has also said that the body of the MacBook Air is completely made of recycled aluminum alloy.
Thankfully, the device doesn’t come with touch bar and features third-generation butterfly keyboard mechanism. Apple has included touch-ID for better security.
The pricing of the MacBook Air starts at $1199 for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant.
The Mac Mini now comes with a quad-core Intel i3 processor. It also has an option to upgrade to a six-core Intel i5 processor. It features four USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports and one HDMI port. Apple says it is now up to five times faster.
The pricing for the Mac Mini starts at $799. It will be also available in the space grey color option.
In addition to all these hardware launches Apple has also released the iOS 12.1 software which features 70 new emojis and group FaceTime feature.
