OnePlus recently launched its latest flagship – the OnePlus 6T whereas the Google launched its 3rd Gen Pixel smartphone. However, the price difference between this two devices are huge so the comparison wouldn’t be fair. Therefore, to make things even we have picked the Pixel 2 XL as it is now priced much closer to the OnePlus 6T. Both Google and OnePlus are known for making top-tier smartphones and we all know that Google is the Pioneer of Android whereas OnePlus’s inexpensive flagship approach attracts everyone. So let’s find out which flagship stands better in this battle of Google Pixel 2 XL Vs OnePlus 6T.
In this segment of Google Pixel 2 XL Vs OnePlus 6T, it is one of the most important aspects of any flagship smartphone. As most of the time, we spend with our smartphone by looking towards the screen. On the other hand, if we are buying a flagship device, we expect it to look premium as well.
Firstly, the Pixel 2 XL sports a QHD+ 6-inch P-OLED display and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. However, despite having an 18:9 aspect ratio, there is a significant amount of bezels at top and bottom due to front firing stereo speakers.
On the back side, we find a combination of aluminum and glass as it got the partial glass back design and rest is aluminum.
Now coming to the OnePlus 6T, it sports 6.41 inches FHD+ Optic AMOLED display with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Notably, it comes with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. However, the most attractive part of this display is the new water-drop style notch and very thin bezels.
On the back, OnePlus 6T comes with a Glass design with a gradient finish which simply looks stunning. Therefore, 6T definitely feels more premium as compared to the Pixel 2 XL.
In terms of hardware, Pixel 2 XL slightly lags behind as it is powered by the previous year’s Flagship Snapdragon 835. Whereas, the OnePlus 6T comes with the latest Snapdragon 845. Pixel 2 XL comes in two variants- 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB. Unlike Pixel 2 XL, the 6T comes in three variants 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB. Clearly, OnePlus 6T has got the advantage due to extra RAM and a new generation processor.
We all know Google is the pioneer of Android and generally, the Pixel devices are the first one to receive any new update. In addition, the deep integration of Google Assistant in Google’s pixel devices is really commendable.
Though OnePlus’ Oxygen OS is very close to stock Android with minor enhancements and it arguably provides the best software experience out there. On the other hand, we have seen Google struggle sometimes in terms of system stability whereas OnePlus’s Oxygen OS stays on point. Both the devices run the latest version of Android and provide a seamless user experience. However, OnePlus’s Oxygen OS is fast, fluid, and responsive hence this section goes to the 6T as well.
It is the most important segment of this comparison of Google Pixel 2 XL Vs OnePlus 6T. In terms of cameras, Pixel 2 XL sports a single 12MP camera on the back and 8MP on the front. Whereas the OnePlus 6T sports a dual 16MP+20MP on the back and 16MP on the front. However, despite having the big numbers OnePlus 6T is not just as good as Pixel 2 XL. Google’s advanced camera algorithms work wonders with just a single camera as well. So the Pixel 2 XL is the winner of this segment.
The Pixel 2 XL packs a 3520 mAh battery and the 6T packs 3700 mAh battery. Both devices come with fast charging support. However, Pixel 2 XL is capped at using 10.5W while OnePlus’s Dash charger uses 20W and it just destroys its opponent. So not only you’ll get a bit longer screen on time but you will also get faster charging with the OnePlus 6T.
The new 6T comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock as well whereas Pixel 2 XL offers traditional rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. So in terms of biometric security, Pixel 2 XL is the one to rely on. Notably, both the device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. In terms of audio, Pixel 2 XL has front firing stereo speakers and OnePlus 6T has bottom firing setup and the overall output is just better on XL.
Google Pixel 2 XL’s 4GB+ 64GB version is now available at Rs. 45,499 and the newly launched 6T’s price starts from Rs. 37,999 (6GB+128GB). Furthermore, the 8GB+128GB variant is available at Rs. 41,999 and the 256GB variant’s price goes up to Rs. 45,999
You just can’t go wrong with either of this two devices but we have to pick one. Clearly, it is the OnePlus 6T which is providing a complete flagship experience at a lower price. Hence we have chosen 6T as the winner of Google Pixel 2 XL Vs OnePlus 6T comparison. However, if you are looking for the best camera and music experience then Pixel 2 XL is the one.
