HMD Global is back in India with another Nokia smartphone and this time it is the Nokia 4.2. If we recall, HMD Global first announced this smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in February this year. Since then it took very long to arrive in India. So far we have seen the Nokia Smartphones come with the great build quality and stock android with promised updates. Unlike many other companies, Nokia is not very ignorant while it’s come to software updates and security patches.
However, being a premium brand Nokia’s pricing is always higher than the other brands but things are changing quite drastically because of the brands like Xiaomi and Realme. If HMD wants to really come back in the market they should really take the pricing seriously. The brands like Redmi, Realme and now Samsung as well are offering premium devices with good hardware at very competitive prices. Now coming back to the Nokia 4.2, apart from the being a typical Nokia device, it comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button and a notification light in the power button. Now it’s time we take a closer look at the specifications of the Nokia 4.2
Nokia 4.2 Specifications
It offers a 5.71-inch HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) waterdrop notch display with 2.5D curved glass on both sides. However, the bezels on the top and bottom of the phone are quite big. It got a fingerprint sensor on the back, supports face unlock and comes with an NFC chip as well. As mentioned earlier, it comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button and a notification light in the power button. The good thing is that it got a dedicated dual SIM and a microSD slot.
Nokia 4.2 is powered by the 12nm Snapdragon 439 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU. It is an Octa-Core (Quad 1.95GHz Cortex A53 + Quad 1.45GHz Cortex A53) processor. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which is expandable up to 400GB with microSD.
On the camera part, it offers a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, PDAF f/2.2 aperture, 1.12µm along with secondary 2MP depth camera. On the front, it houses 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size.
Nokia 4.2 runs latest Android Pie out of the box and offers 2 Android updates. All of this is backed by only a 3000mah battery. Other features include USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, FM radio, Dual 4G VoLTE, and VoWiFi support as well. The dimensions are 148.95×71.30×8.39mm and the phone weighs 161 grams.
Nokia 4.2 Pricing and Availability
The Nokia 4.2’s price is disappointing as the lone 3GB+32GB variant is priced at Rs. 10,999. It will be available in two colors – Black and Pink Sand. It will be available exclusively on Nokia.com/phones for a week period starting today. After that, it will be available via select retail outlets including Croma, Reliance, Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, and MyG from May 14. Further, it will expand to all major retail outlets across the country from May 21.
