Oppo recently launched its Reno series smartphones in India that includes Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition and Oppo Reno. The Reno series from Oppo represents the new age flagship from the brand. However, in this article, we will be only focusing on the Reno 10X Zoom edition as it can be proven a tough competitor of the OnePlus 7 series.
With the launch of OnePlus 7 Pro, it almost got all the attention of the world but in these changing situations, we should think more logically. There is no doubt that OnePlus 7 Pro is a great device but the competition is not bad either especially when the competition is from home. Readers who are unaware- Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Realme they all belong to the same company named BBK Electronics. Now, let’s have a better look at the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom Edition to understand what it is really offering.
It comes with a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED notch-less display with ultra-narrow bezels and 93.1% screen-to-body ratio. The display also supports 100% NTSC color gamut and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. There is a 3D curved glass protection and an O-Dot ceramic point at the back to protect the cameras on the back. Furthermore, it features an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor which is 28.5% faster than the predecessor. The dimensions are 162.0×77.2×9.3mm and weight is 215g.
10X Zoom is powered by the Snapdragon 855 (1 x 2.84GHz Kryo 485 + 3 x 2.42GHz Kryo 485 + 4x 1.80GHz Kryo 485) with Adreno 640 GPU.
It comes in two variants-
Unlike many other flagships in this segment, it has a Hybrid slot that gives you the option to expand the memory further with microSD.
It runs on Color OS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. In addition, it has HyperBoost performance enhancements, including Game Boost 2.0 acceleration engine with Frame Boost and Touch Boost accelerations to enhance mobile gaming experiences. Notably, to enhance the audio experience Oppo provided Hi-Res and Dolby Atmos support as well.
Now coming to the cameras, it packs a triple camera setup on the back and the specifications are like this-
Camera feature includes- noise reduction, HDR support, and AI-based Ultra Night Mode 2.0 and portrait mode. Furthermore, it can shoot 4K@60fps with OIS support and uses the three-microphone setup to enable features such as audio zoom recording and 3D surround audio capturing.
On the front, it got a Shark fin rising 16MP camera with f/2.0, 26mm (wide) and LED flash. Oppo says it can hold out against over 200,000 times of lifting and it only takes 0.8 seconds to lift. In addition, the front camera also features five portrait modes as well.
All this backed by a 4065mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging (20W). Connectivity option includes- Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band (2×2 MU-MIMO), Bluetooth 5, Dual-frequency (L1+L5) GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC, and USB Type-C with Audio support. The Oppo Reno 10X Zoom features all the necessary sensors as well.
The Oppo Reno 10X Zoom will be available in two color options- Jet Black and Ocean Green. The base model with 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage priced at Rs. 39,990. While the top-end 8GB RAM with 256GB storage version will cost Rs. 49,990.
Customers can pre-book the device right now and pre-booking offers include 10% instant discount on EMI transactions for HDFC Bank credit/ debit card users. Furthermore, customers will also get 10% cashback on exchange and assured buyback for one-year by Instacash. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition will be available online and offline starting June 7.
It is interesting to see how Oppo actually price this device sensibly at Rs. 39,990. If you look at the pricing of OnePlus 7, it starts at Rs. 32,999 whereas the 7 Pro starts at Rs. 49,999. Therefore, the 10X comfortably exists in between and it actually makes more sense. If you are looking for an ultra-modern design with flagship specification then why not choosing the 10X Zoom instead of OnePlus 7 Series as it only misses out the 90Hz display.
It comes with a unique Shark fin type pop-up selfie camera, a periscope zoom camera and what not. Even the post-processing of the images is better than the OnePlus 7 series if you check the comparisons over the internet. Apart from the Color OS, there are no major drawbacks of this device. If we compare Oxygen OS and Color OS, then we all know who’s going to win. Color OS is not bad but it is just not as good as the Oxygen OS. Therefore, if you are looking for a complete package of design, performance, cameras, and a reasonable price then Oppo Reno 10X Zoom is the most logical choice you can make right now.
