Yesterday, HMD Global announced yet another entry-level smartphone in India. The Nokia 2.2 is one of the entry-level smartphones that comes with the Android One program. A few days back, HMD launched another device named as Nokia 4.2 in India with Snapdragon 439 SoC. However this time, Nokia opted for a MediaTek SoC which is highly disappointing especially if we consider the competition. In India, it will be competing with devices like the Redmi 7 which comes with the Snapdragon 632 SoC. On paper, the competition is far more ahead than the Nokia 2.2 and the specification sheet will clearly state that. So without wasting any time, let’s have a quick look at the same.
The Nokia 2.2 features a 5.71-inch (720 x 1520 pixels) HD+ TFT LCD 19:9 aspect ratio 2.5D curved glass display. The display supports a maximum brightness of 400 nits. The dimensions are 145.96 x 70.56 x 9.3 mm and weight is 153g.
2.2 is powered by a 2GHz Quad-Core MediaTek Helio A22 12nm processor with IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU. It comes in two variants- 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage which is expandable up to 400GB with microSD (Dedicated Slot). Nokia 2.2 runs on the latest Android 9 Pie and features a dedicated Google Assistant button as well. In addition, it supports Google Assistant walkie-talkie feature, which is activated when the button is long pressed.
On the camera department, it got a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1.12um pixel size. At the front, a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12um pixel size. It can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps. All this backed by a 3000mah battery. Furthermore, connectivity options include- Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS.
The Nokia 2.2 will be available in two colors- Steel and Tungsten Black. It is priced at Rs. 6999 for the 2GB RAM with 16GB version and the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version will cost Rs. 7999. However, the price will be increased further after a limited time. It will be available via Flipkart, Nokia online store, and other offline retailers in pan India starting June 11.
