Google to invest $10bn in India Under India Digitisation Fund, to Lead the Next digital wave in India!

Spoke on a wide range of Subjects: PM Modi, Sundar Pichai announced an investment of a mega $10Bn (INR 75,000 Cr) in India over 5-7 years under India Digitisation Funds, through a mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments.

In a virtual call between Honourable PM Narendra Modi and Alphabet & Goggle’s CEO Sundar Pichai, earlier today, discussed various issues and a wide range of subjects ranging from COVID crisis to leveraging digital technologies for everyone in India, from the farmers, youngsters to the Entrepreneurs.

“Our goal is to ensure India not only benefits from the next wave of Innovation but leads it,” said, Sundar Pichai while talking about India-Digitisation-Fund.

They also discussed how the world is facing a hard time amid this Coronavirus crisis. The big economies have gripped into this outbreak and seen new work culture that is developing out of this crisis.

They also spoke about the importance of Data Security and Cyber Safety. PM Modi was delighted to learn how Google is working in the field of learning, digitization, and more.

Later joined by India’s IT Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad and HRD Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishak in the 6th edition of #GoogleforIndia event along with Sanjay Gupta- Country Head and VP, Google India; Caesar Sengupta- VP, Payments and Next Billion Users, Google India; Sapna Chadha-Senior Marketing Direct, Google India and SE Asia.

They spoke on various developments and announcements for India specific Programs and Developments including India-Digitisation-Fund.

Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized a focus on digital and AI innovations in the area of Education, health, and rural India.

Sapna Chadha spoke about Partnership with CBSE to train and empower 1M Teachers in 22K Schools on delivering blended learning, combining classroom learning and online learning using tools like GSuite for Education, Google Classroom, YouTube, and more.

As a matter of fact that not everyone is privileged enough and get digital access to the devices and the Internet in India. Google also announced a $1M grant under Global Distance Learning Funds and partnered with Kaivalya Education Foundation along with Central Square Foundation and The Teacher App to empower 700,000 Teachers over 1 year to deliver virtual education to students to continue learning.
