WhatsApp building a team in India to fight fake News
Yes, you heard that right. After getting so many requests from the users, the social media Giant, WhatsApp has finally decided to build a team in India to fight the Fake News. The WhatsApp responded to the Indian Government and officially said that they are building a team in India to fight fake News.
Though this will not meet the expectations of government for traceability of the originator of the fake news. But it would still help in identifying a news as fake and reporting it. When contacted, a WhatsApp spokesperson said: “To support our users in India and continue our investment in the country, it’s our top priority to hire a local leader who can help us build a team on the ground.”

The Company also added – “It’s why we’ve already made significant product changes to help slow the spread of misinformation and are working to educate people on how to spot fake news,”. Just in case you don’t already know, the WhatsApp has also added the Forwarded Message Feature, restricted the number of forwards and also brought out full-page ads giving “easy tips” to spot fake news. The IT MInistry has directed the WhatsApp to bring more effective solutions to this problem.
