The new Honor Play comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ 19:5:9 display with a notch. It comes with a metal back and there are visible antenna lines on top and bottom which is an obvious choice considering it’s price. The biggest highlight of the device is that it comes with Kirin 970 SoC which is a flagship-grade SoC from the company. Furthermore, it is the only device from Honor which will support GPU Turbo out of the box. If you don’t know about the GPU Turbo, here is the reminder. Honor says GPU Turbo can increase performance by up to 60 percent while reducing battery consumption by up to 30 percent. In addition, there is also a dedicated NPU which enables AI based functions on the device.
The device comes in two variants- 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM and both of them will have 64GB onboard storage. It runs Android Oreo EMUI 8.2 on top and backed by a 3750mAh battery which also supports fast charging. The company has gone very aggressive while pricing the Honor Play as the price starts at Rs. 19,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and goes up to Rs. 23,999 for the 6GB RAM variant. As of now, there are only two color options- Midnight Black and Navy Blue. Notably, there is another special edition of the phone with laser etched back which is retailing in China. It will go on sale exclusively via Amazon India and the HiHonorStore starting from 4 PM today. The Honor Play launch offers 120 GB of free data for a period of 12 months to Vodafone customers with recharge with Rs. 199 or above. In addition, customers will get 10GB free data extra for 12 months on any Vodafone RED plan starting Rs. 399 and 1 year Amazon Prime for postpaid customers.
