PM Modi confirms the Gaganyaan Mission to be successfully onboard. India has started preparing the launch of its first manned space mission by 2022. Indeed, it is a very proud moment for the country. This benchmarks India to become the fourth nation after the USA, USSR, and China.

Incredible to note that India’s first two space missions included Indian origin astronauts into Space aboard foreign spacecraft. Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to ever travel in space, flew with Soviet rocket Soyuz T-11. However, Kalpana Chawla was first Indian woman to fly into space with the Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003. However, Chandrayan-1 was ISRO’s first-and-successful lunar probe, in operation from Oct 2008 to Aug 2009. On the other hand, the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) is still orbiting Mars since Sept 24, 2014. Hence, Gaganyaan will definitely be a path-breaking achievement in the Indian history.

The year 2022 is the scheduled year for the launch. However, PM Modi also says that if everything stacks up nicely, possibly the launch will take place early. An Indian astronaut will mark the new beginning with the Gaganyaan Space Odyssey.
