RedmiBook 14 Launched with 8th Gen Intel Processor, Metal Body, and More

After dominating the Smartphone and TV market, Xiaomi is now all set to make its mark in the laptop market as well. Yesterday, in China, RedmiBook 14 launched alongside with the K20 and K20 Pro. Notably, it is the first laptop under the brand of Redmi. It aims to offer a balanced performance with a sleek metal design at an affordable price tag. Many people do get confused while purchasing a laptop and end up regretting later. Therefore, RedmiBook is for them who are looking for the best possible configuration at an affordable price range. RedmiBook 14 Specifications

Display and Design

It features a 14-inch Full HD display with 5.75 mm ultra narrow bezels and 81.2% screen-to-body ratio. In addition, the display also comes with a 178° wide viewing angle, 250nits brightness, and high-definition anti-glare. It has a classy looking metal body as well. On the keyboard section, it has a 19mm large key spacing with 1.3 mm key travel for a more comfortable typing experience. Notably, the touchpad has multitouch gesture-support. RedmiBook weighs around 1.5kg and it is 17.95mm thick.

Hardware and Software

Underneath, there is 8th gen Intel Core i5/i7 processor depending on the models. Here is the complete processor information for all the models-

The top end model features the i7-8565U along with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card (2GB GDDR5), 8GB DDR4 2400MHz memory, and 512GB SATA SSD storage.

The next model features i5-8265U along with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card (2GB GDDR5), 8GB DDR4 2400MHz memory, and 512GB SATA SSD storage. Lastly, there is another version of this with 256GB SATA SSD storage.

On the software part, it has Pre-installed Windows 10 Home Edition along with Genuine Office Home and Student Edition.  In addition, there is a Xiaomi smart unlock feature that is touted to take 1.2 seconds to unlock the machine from the standby mode.

Battery and Connectivity

All this backed by a 46W battery that promises 10 hours of battery life. Furthermore, it supports fast charging which can charge 50% in 35 minutes when the notebook is off.

Connectivity options include- WiFi 802.11ac 2×2 (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x USB 3.0 port, 1 x USB 2.0, and HDMI. Furthermore, there is 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack, Realtek ALC256M, 2x 1.5W speakers, and DTS audio support as well.

RedmiBook 14 Price and Availability

The RedmiBook 14 will be available in only silver color. The base variant with Intel Core i5 processor and 256GB SSD storage will be available at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 40,300). While it’s 512GB version will be sold for CNY 4,299 (roughly Rs. 43,300). Finally, the top end model with i7 and 512GB SSD will be available at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 50,400). The company will take pre-orders for the RedmiBook 14 from 12 in China starting from June 1 and the actual sale will start from June 11. However, there is no word from the officials about its global availability but if Xiaomi plans to bring these laptops in India, it will be surely a hit.
